Bio

My interest in engineering began when I worked as an avionics technician on the Boeing B52-H bomber. Having served as an airman in the USAF, I helped maintain, overhaul and troubleshoot Com/Nav and Electronic Countermeasures systems under vigorous operation schedules and harsh conditions. By the end of my enlistment I became skilled and passionate about engineering. I grew to respect and admire complex systems, even if I had to repair them in -40F temperatures. Comradery, discipline, thirst to be the best are some of the things the military has taught me. I’m also pretty good at removing stuck screws in desperately cold temperatures.

Senior Systems Engineer

  • • Currently forward deployed in Israel to support AN/TPY-2 radar operation and system engineering in the operating theatre. Responsible for overall radar health and status, software/hardware maintenance and troubleshooting, engineering instructions required by the Missile Defense Agency, analysis of real-world events, and any site activities that require expertise in the field. Required to operate under high stress and visibility from the military and government customers.
  • • Traveled to White Sands Missile Range to serve as a System Operator and Analysis team member for Initial Calibration and Acceptance Testing Plan activities, resulting in the successful sale of AN/TPY-2 AEU#13. Operated the radar on site for 1 month duration on 2nd shift, facilitating communication between shifts and supporting all radar site test activities. Created MATLAB scripts to collect and maintain daily metrics of run time, RF time, and other log run information.
  • • Support delivery of United Arab Emirate (UAE) AE_3.1 software upgrade and common SW baseline of AN/TPY-2 radar. Work with SW and systems engineers to deliver capabilities into new radar SW builds. Coordinate with peers and customer to create, edit, and publish documentation to support radar SW activities.
  • • Team member on machine learning Raytheon Independent Research and Development (IRAD), focused on improving radar advanced track and discrimination capabilities. Resolved bugs, adapted code to operate in appropriate frequency state-space, and coded batch processing methods in MATLAB to improve states and weights data processing for Hidden Markov Model (HMM) calculations.
  • • Created a controlled Feature Catalog XML file to define AN/TPY-2 radar capabilities across UAE and baseline SW builds. Identified Environmental Variables (EVs), and System Adjustable Parameters (SAPs) that control radar capabilities, their values across different builds, and compilation to new builds.
