Hot Young Engineer Wins Prestigious NETA Apprenticeship Award
Aiming High: Alan Simmons, winner of the NETA Apprentice of the Tear award
Alan Simmons, who has been with Nortech Group as a project control apprentice for a year, has been awarded the NETA Project Control Apprentice of the Year Award.
Alan, 21, from Stockton, is studying towards a four-year advanced apprenticeship in project control with NETA, one of the UK’s largest vocational training providers for engineering construction companies.
He is thrilled to have won the award, and it is clear that the hard work he has done this year has paid off. He described his job as both “challenging and rewarding”. He now wants to press on with his studies and get more experience at Nortech in the project controls and engineering sector.
Alan’s achievement came of no surprise to his BTEC tutor, John Curran, who described him as “hardworking, dedicated”, and an “excellent role model for his fellow classmates”.
Another one of his teachers, Murtadha Aljaberi, said that Alan is a “high achiever” with “excellent communication skills”.
Finally, Bryan Bunn, managing director of Nortech Group, said: “I would like to congratulate Alan on winning such a respected award, which is fully deserved. Alan has a bright future ahead of him, and I would like to wish him all the best with his studies.”
