Job Responsibilities
  • Fully kit-out the sub-Lab and outfit a highly functional and low-friction workflow sub-Lab to support the programmes’ activities and these include material forming, material and chemical processing equipment; prototyping equipment; experimentation and testing environments; and resource centre
  • Own, build and operate the respective sub-Lab, provide deep engineering expertise and support services in experimentation, design, engineering, prototyping and production
  • Own and drive the Lab’s innovation and/or incubator programmes, lead a multi-disciplinary team to work closely with the other sub-Labs, managers and participants of the group’s innovation and incubator programmes across the whole development process from concept to market
  • Own and drive in-house fabrication and assembly of turnkey prototypes. Extend prototypes to small-scale production builds of 100s of units with internal and external resources
  • Be responsible for any other ad-hoc jobs and/or duties that are so assigned to you or your sub-Lab

Job Requirements
  • A good graduate degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering/ Material Sciences/ Material Engineering/ Chemistry or related field from a reputable university. Post-graduate degree in any discipline a plus
  • 5 years of experience in lab/industry R&D or New Product Introduction (NPI) with experience in material design, research, selection, material and product reliability and functionality testing, preferable in material science, chemical and/or related industry
  • 1 year of experience in building, managing and running such a Laboratory
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to communicate solutions effectively
  • Take great pride in personal quality of work
  • Demonstrated ability in building and operating engineering laboratories, and leading multi-disciplinary team in innovation and/or incubator programmes across the whole development process from concept to market to achieve outstanding results
  • Experience in managing day-to-day similar operations, projects and their scheduling, and budget
  • Ability to work in highly dynamic teams across various disciplines.
  • Ability to communicate financial figures, concepts and solutions effectively across staff and senior management
